The Imitation Game and Marvel movies franchise star, Benedict Cumberbatch shocked the world when he somewhat struck his name off the bachelors’ list of the UK famous actors. Today, he is happily married and a father of two kids.
Bachelor for a long time
Prior to ‘putting a ring on it’, Benedict Cumberbatch had been single for long. However, Cumberbatch had relinquished the label of one of UK’s most eligible bachelors way back in 2009 when he began a private romance with Sophie Hunter, whom he met at the 2009’s Burlesque Fairytale.
Evidently, a private person, he was once quoted:
Any privacy in public is a hard thing to negotiate.
Failing in love
The pair eventually came out publicly in June 2014 and later got married in 2015.
Moreover, in 2014, Benedict said of then-fiancée:
She’s just really cool. ”Relentlessly in love with her, … She’s proud of my work, she’s proud of me, and she loves me, that’s the bottom line, isn’t it? That’s one of the reasons it’s a good fit. It could be a really difficult thing, but she’s just so in command of it.
Keeping with the private nature of their dating relationship, the couple did not tow the conventional line of a formal announcement of their engagement. Instead, they decided to place it in the forthcoming marriages section of The Times.
Interestingly, Benedict and Sophie got married on Valentine’s Day in 2015. Benedict said its was, “a magical day”.
A family guy
On becoming a father, Benedict teased that,
I’ve become a father and a husband. It’s everything. I have a new life form that needs his father’s help in the world.
Famous Benedict Cumberbatch prefers to rest at home with a book or movie to watch. He said concerning that, ‘I’m a homebody, I love to stay in at night, light a fire, have a whiskey and watch a movie or read a good book.’
He also loves hiking as he shared that a good walk improves both the state of mind and body.
Famous quotes
Benedict once said:
‘Benedict’ means ‘blessed.’ My parents liked the sound of the name and felt slightly blessed because they’d been trying for a child for a very long time.
Enjoy the journey of life and not just the end game.
One of the fears of having too much work is not having time to observe. And once you get recognized, there is nowhere for you to look anymore. You can’t sit on a night bus and watch it all happen.
Every job is incredibly different, and I love it because you’re picking up skill sets and experiences. It’s the university of life.
I have actual acting scars.
We wish Benedict and Sophie a happy life together while raising their beautiful kids.
