Last week, the community was shocked by the news of a mass shooting at high school in Parkland, Florida. 17 students and teachers dead, and numerous family members devastated over the loss of their loved ones. Two brothers who were inside the school building during the mass shooting texted to each other and had no idea whether they would ever meet again.
Emotional message to a brother
Matthew Zeif and his older brother Sam were amid the tragic event in Florida school last week. They are both students, and they both had no idea that an ordinary day at school would turn into a real nightmare.
Matthew was the last person pushed into a classroom before his teacher was shot. But the boy was afraid not just for his own life; he was scared for his brother Sam too. That’s what Matthew tested to his brother when they both were hostages at the school building:
Just know I love you forever and you’re the best brother.

Thank God, they both survived. After the tragedy that took 17 innocent lives, Sam Zeif shared his thoughts on what he felt at that horrifying moment.
Scariest part of it all was knowing my little brother was right above me and not knowing if I would ever see him again.
The student added that he is deeply concerned that such kinds of shootings are becoming almost commonplace around the country, and nothing gets done to change it.
Everyone is horrified. We all say that something has to be done. But soon afterward we forget and move on. Nothing changes.
A majority of people also went on social media to share their thoughts and fears on the matter.
These are the chilling messages I received from my sister. She is safe. Thank you everyone #prayforDouglas #MarjoryStonemanDouglas @browardsheriff @browardschools pic.twitter.com/E3PZo2i2Is

I love the students who are speaking out from the #ParklandShooting I can’t fathom what they’ve gone through, yet here they are on the news brave and raw and demanding we defend and protect them. Fuck the NRA and the cowardly politicians who line their pockets with blood money.

Five days ago, there was a mass shooting. Five days ago, 17 people died in a high school in Florida.
And yet THIS is what the president decides to make his priority.
Not gun control.
Not reform. But attacking a successful black woman on Twitter.
Basically sums it up. https://t.co/JvT1fPgxJW— Emilia (@PoliticalEmilia) February 19, 2018
We hope all children and their parents who became the victims of that tragic event will find the strength to cope with their shock and fears. Our hearts and prayers are with all of you!
