A man named Mark Freely was just recording a regular day of walking his dogs without realising that he was about to capture something truly epic.
A young deer had just found itself struggling for its life at the Long Island Sound. Mark was walking his dogs, Storm and Sara, when they noticed the deer, who seemed to be on the brink of drowning.
Mark explained the moment that Storm, his golden retriever, surprised him.
Storm just plunged into the water and started swimming out to the fawn, grabbed it by the neck, and started swimming to shore.
As soon as Storm dragged the deer to the shore, the dog laid down next to it and began to nudge the fawn, probably to make sure it was going to be fine.
Mark called for help during this time, and he and Sara began rushing towards the animals. However, by the time they got there, the fawn had sprung back into the water. It was probably spooked by the dogs.
This time around, it was Mark and Frank Floridia of Long Island Rescue who got the baby deer out.
The process took about eight minutes, but thankfully, the deer was eventually saved.
Kudos to Storm for being such a brave doggie.
