Carrie looked like a million bucks in a silver spangled dress and rocked just a few dance moves as she sang in front of a giant screen showing Super Bowl highlights going back to the beginning of the Big Game.
During Ludacris’s rap in the song, NFL champions like Joe Montana, Eagles quarterback Nick Foles and Patriots quarterback Tom Brady popped up looking into the camera with very serious looks on their faces.
Carrie finished the performance singing in front of a giant projection of “Super Bowl LII.” We’re sure Carrie’s fans will be watching the clip on repeat. It’s her first solo video since 2016’s “Dirty Laundry.”
? Nice work on the #SuperBowl video version of Champion by Carrie Underwood. Love the song and can't wait to see it used throughout the #Olympics as well.

Though the video is brand-new, we’ve been rocking out to “The Champion” for a few weeks now. Carrie dropped the red-hot track last month, and it’s been a staple of workout playlists ever since as folks try to hold onto those New Year’s resolution. The lyrics, “I’ve been working my whole life / and now it’s do or die / I am invincible / Unbreakable / Unstoppable / Unshakeable / They knock me down / I get up again,” are just perfect for pumping you up during a workout.
Carrie says, “When we were writing ‘The Champion,’ our main focus was to celebrate athletes at the top of their game, but we also wanted the song to resonate with people in their everyday lives. We hope the lyrics will inspire people to push themselves beyond their limits to conquer anything they are trying to accomplish or overcome. There’s a champion in every single one of us!”
Carrie’s social media lead-up to “The Champion” premiere got fans excited for the big moment.
Even this pup, named Emmett, got in on the action! He had the song blasting as he got in a hardcore workout.
Carrie commented, “Being a champion is not exclusive to humans! Get it, Emmett! Ace knows what you’re going through,” she added, referencing one of her own dogs.
Carrie’s hubby, Mike Fisher, is a big fan of “The Champion,” too. He’s currently training and getting back in shape to rejoin the Nashville Predators for their 2018 run at the NHL Stanley Cup. He announced his retirement last August, then shocked the sports world earlier this week by announcing he was coming out of retirement for one last season.
“The Champion” might have had a little something to do with his decision. Carrie says Mike has been a big fan of the song ever since she wrote and recorded it. He even wanted to take it into the locker room this past summer to play for his teammates to get them pumped up for the Stanley Cup playoffs. Carrie had to nix that idea, though.
She tells “Variety,” “My husband loved it. He would listen to it before playoff games. He was like ‘I want everyone to hear it!’ and I had to tell him, ‘You can’t do that. You can’t play it in the locker room. I’m sorry.’ But that was a good indicator that we were on the right track.”
Of note, Carrie filmed the video for “The Champion” last year before her scary fall at home in November. The injuries from that fall required multiple stitches to her face as well as surgery on her broken wrist.
