But what if you’re one of the few people who shuns any interest in popular culture? It can be pretty embarrassing if everyone around you knows who a certain famous person is and you’re forced to just concede your ignorance.
However, when an unwitting father sat next to an A-lister, he was far from embarrassed, and, in fact, revelled in the online fame this brought him…

The story broke when a college student by the name of Deanna Hall posted screenshots of the text message exchange between herself and her father.
The young woman is a student at the University of South Florida, and she received what, at first, she thought was a an out-of-the-blue text from her dad asking her, “who is Nick Jonas?” Being the millennial that she is, Deanna was well aware who Nick Jonas was.
Deanna’s dad wasn’t asking purely out of interest or because he’d caught sight of Nick Jonas on a magazine. What actually happened was that he’d found himself sitting next to someone on a Delta Airlines flight who was evidently a huge star. Only, he had no idea who he was!
When Mr. Hall revealed to his daughter via text that he was in fact sitting next to the youngest Jonas brother on the plane, his daughter was beside herself with joy. She practically begged her father to send photos of her idol, and not only was he able to oblige, but something spectacular happened afterwards…
Mr. Hall being the loving dad that he is complied with his daughter’s wishes, and managed to get not one but two photos of Nick and himself. The only thing he didn’t manage to pull out of the bag was that autograph Deanna so desperately wanted. But in this day and age, who really cares about autographs anymore?

Deanna shared the text message exchange that preceded the selfie on her Twitter page, and the twitterverse found it so endearing that it was retweeted and liked thousands of times.
Even one of the flight attendants who was working during the flight, joined in on the conversation…
Others could totally relate to her excitement!
But this was one of the best things to come out of this whole episode; The woman who was seen sitting behind Deanna’s dad and Nick Jonas became viral in her own right purely because of how totally uninterested she is by the celebrity encounter.
I’m sure a 14-year-old Deanna Hall would have been screaming in disbelief if she knew that in just a few years’ time, her own father would be sitting next to the one and only Nick Jonas. And one thing’s for sure, Mr. Hall definitely knows who the Jonas Brothers are now! Who knows, maybe by now he’s even listened to a Jonas Brother tune or two, or three?
