Darci Lynne puts her puppet away for this dynamic holiday performance

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas Is You” has become one of the most popular holiday songs of all time, despite having been released in the ’90s.

In fact, many artists have taken the opportunity to sing their own versions of the international hit, including Shania Twain, Miley Cyrus and Lady Antebellum. The latest act to take on the hit is 13-year-old ventriloquist Darci Lynne Farmer.

If you recall, Darci Lynne won over America’s hearts during season 12 of “America’s Got Talent.” The talented teenager, who’s become the third ventriloquist to win on the NBC hit competition series, often entertained audience members with her rabbit puppet, Petunia, as well as her awkward mouse puppet, Oscar, and sassy senior citizen puppet, Edna Doorknocker.

She and her puppets emerged victorious with performances of songs such as Irving Berlin’s “Anything You Can Do (I Can Do Better),” The Beatles’ “With A Little Help From My Friends” and Aretha Franklin’s “(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman.”

Now Darci Lynne has put her own spin on “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” This time, though, she decided to step out of the shadows of her puppet props. But even though she refrained from sharing the stage with her stuffed animal friends, she was joined by another special guest – family horn band and fellow “America’s Got Talent” alumni Pelican212.

Onstage, the young ventriloquist dazzled in a pink dress and a stylish up-do, and showcased her jazzy set of vocals on the tune, while the family band accompanied her on their instruments. Darci Lynne also incorporated some epic runs into her spectacular rendition. While there’s nothing quite like Mariah’s original version, the Oklahoma-born youngster did a pretty amazing job! Heck, she even hit a major high note at the end!

Darci Lynne’s festive performance of the Mariah hit took place at The Criterion in Oklahoma City during one of four shows called “Darci Lynne Homecoming Show.” The hometown shows are a precursor to her first national theater tour, “The Darci Lynne And Friends Live” tour. The trek is set to begin on Jan. 13 in Atlanta. You can check out Darci Lynne’s official website for more info. on tour dates.

As for Mariah, she will once again headline “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest,” on Dec. 31, following last year’s disastrous live performance. The performer shared the news on Twitter on Dec. 22 by simply tweeting, “Take 2.”
