Oscar experts are unanimous in their prediction that the March 2018 Academy Awards will favor Oldman. He played the role of Winston Churchill in Joe Wright’s ‘Darkest Hour’. The film follows Churchill through his first months of his tenure as British Prime Minister and his decision between a negotiated peace with Nazi Germany or prolonged war.
The second choice, according to the experts, was two-time Best Actor winner Tom Hanks for his role as Ben Bradlee in The Post.

The 89th Academy Awards took place on February 26th, 2017. Casey Affleck took home the award for Best Actor for playing Lee Chandler in Manchester By the Sea. Best Actress went to Emma Stone for her role as Mia Dolan in La La Land. Mahershala Ali was Best Supporting Actor in the movie Moonlight, in which he played Juan. Viola Davis played Rose Maxson in Fences, earning her a Best Supporting Actress award.
The official nominees’ list for the 90th Academy Awards will be released on January 23rd, 2018.
