As the saying goes “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure,” and it couldn’t be more true for Carlo Alonso and his sister Camino.
The two were looking for a hidden, hard-to-find getaway home for their extended family to visit. They wanted it to be a place to relax and enjoy the outdoors. More importantly, they wanted seclusion from society. While searching for their home, the two stumbled upon an abandoned cow stable in a rural part of Spain. The stable looked worn down and completely unlivable. It also was miles away from any electrical grid and water supply.
But upon seeing the place, the two knew that this was the perfect location for their getaway home. They just needed to transform their dream into reality.
With an idea in mind, the Alonsos conducted an incredible transformation of the abandoned stable. While they kept the foundation of the old stable in place as a tribute to the ranchers who first built it, they transformed the entire interior into an elegant, luxurious living space. Giant glass windows line the sides of the home and provide amazing views of the countryside. They even built a fountain and a patio to help keep the home cool on warmer days.
What’s most impressive is how the Alonsos managed to create a pure water supply when they were miles away from the city’s supply. In fact, this water is so pure and clean, they drink and bathe in it!
This abandoned stable is now a dream home, and I’d love to live in it. Wouldn’t you?
