You and your kids aren’t the only ones who love playtime in the swimming pool during the summer. A gorilla named Zola also had a blast splashing around and dancing in his own pool on June 20, 2017, at the Dallas Zoo.
The gorilla’s keeper recorded his enrichment session that afternoon and was not expecting him to be as active as little kids are in the water.
Zola begins by splashing the water back and forth between his hands, then after about seven seconds, he goes nuts and starts spinning in circles, faster and faster! All the while, Zola appears to be doing a gorilla smile as he entertains himself.
He does about five rotations before throwing his arms up like he’s dancing and hitting the water all over his enclosure. Then, he begins jumping up and down along with spinning! It’s quite the sight to see.
In the original video, which the Dallas Zoo posted on YouTube, his keeper can be heard remarking in a stunned tone, saying, “that’s amazing!”
We think it’s pretty amazing, too!
Zola isn’t the only excited gorilla we’ve seen. A baby gorilla from the Buffalo Zoo couldn’t help but play around in piles of shredded paper. Then there’s Koko, who enjoys playing guitar!
