Watching a police officer being assaulted can be a very unnerving sight. You might feel an urge to do something about it. While some might dial the emergency number for help, it is also as easy to simply keep walking.
Vickie Williams-Tillman did neither. In fact, when faced with the decision, she decided to bravely go to the rescue.
Vickie was running errands when she noticed some altercation going on at the side of the road. A policeman was arguing with a dangerous-looking man. The man got violent very fast and grabbed the cop’s baton then proceeded to attack the officer with it. He hit the policeman on the head over and over again.
Then the attacker tried to reach for the cop’s gun. Vickie realised that things were getting out of hand and she wanted to do something to help. Even though it was a dangerous undertaking, the grandmother just could not stop herself from acting instinctively.
When asked what was going on in her mind, she said, “It was something that went through my soul. You don’t think about the risk.”
What she did next caused her to be hailed as a hero. She was able to do what most people wouldn’t and ended up rescuing the policemen.
