One Police Officer, Jeremy Turner started his shift one day, the last thing he expected was to go viral. Most officers are fully aware that when they start a shift, they never know what they are going to face that day. Officer Turner faced an audience, thanks to his surprisingly powerful voice. While on duty in downtown Portland, Maine, Turner started singing the well-known Christmas song, “O Holy Night,” and much to his surprise, people stopped in their tracks to soak in his musical talent.
“There were people walking by and they started to stop and listen so I just kept going with it,” said Jeremy Turner, who later received 800 shares for his performance after it was shared on YouTube, and 25,000 views. “It’s kind of crazy it’s uh – it’s crazy to see the numbers.”
That number is still climbing, as people are tuning in to hear the officer’s voice.

Music is nothing new to Turner, who received his degree in music. His focus was on jazz, but he admits that he loves all music. Having always wanted to be a police officer, Turner, pursued that criminal justice career path but his love for music never strayed. His talent is well known by his fellow officers and the Chief of Police at the Portland Police Department. Turner has shared his voice at events with colleagues and they’ve continued to be floored by the strength of his powerful tune.
“I was absolutely blown away, you know I had heard, you know Jeremy can sing, Jeremy can sing. I mean this is the real deal,” said Portland Police Chief Mike Sauschuck, who admits that the force is lucky to have Jeremy, and this really shows the human side of law enforcement.
Its certainly lightens up the mood when you see an officer belting out a Christmas song.
“I like engaging in people, I like seeing what we can do to help them – it’s a great feeling, it’s ..You never know where your day is going to go,” added Turner, who loves his job as an officer.
Luckily Turner is able to do the career that he loves while also dabbling the education and hobby that he has pursued.
This is certainly proof that we are multi-talented beings and that we all have layers…some that we end up showing and others that we end up keeping hidden.
Commenters shared their thoughts on Turner’s memorable performance…
“Such a beautiful voice and a beautiful man.”
“Beautifully done, so refreshing to hear a real Christmas song and not the usual garbage.”
And several were ready to hire Officer Turner for another job…
“Officer Turner needs to go to St. Patrick’s Cathedral in NYC & sing as a soloist with the choir!”
“Great voice. Wish more cops would show Christmas one way or another.”
Maybe this will be a start to a new tradition for Turner and cops all over the country. Surely, the locals in Portland will be looking for Turner when next Christmas rolls around and they are walking along the downtown streets.
Do any of your local police men and women have special talents that you know of? We’d love to hear about them in the comments!
