“Her now-faded beauty was only a memory,” said a disgruntled husband, upset that his wife had put their family before her appearance.
Relationships are hard work. But when people get married, they make a commitment to stand by each other for better and for worse, and that’s especially the case if they decide to have children together.
It’s no secret that being a mom is an arduous job, and many women find it difficult to adjust to having less time for themselves.
However, it turns out that there are some extremely selfish husbands out there who find this change difficult to deal with; not because they can no longer snuggle on the sofa with their boo after work, but because she has less time to devote to her appearance.
Earlier this year, a man’s apparent confession about leaving his “flabby” wife for a younger, more beautiful woman went viral on Facebook. It’s a valuable lesson that’s testament to the fact that life happens, and people really don’t know what they’ve got until it’s gone.
“A year ago, I separated from my wife,” the confession began, which was posted on Hefty. “I left her for a younger, more attractive woman. My ex was flabby, unkempt didn’t shave, and had droopy breasts. I no longer found her attractive.”
Well, boo hoo hoo. Pardon your wife for not putting your phallus first. If relationships were based entirely on looks, none would last. No one looks the same way forever, and some of the most beautiful people in the world have the worst personalities imaginable.

“Today, exactly a year after I left her, I saw her again. She was glowing and had lost weight. She was once again beautiful. She no longer showed the wear-and-tear of the years.”
And that, ladies and gentlemen, was when he finally realised that he’d made a mistake. It took a year for the totally valid reasons for his wife’s change in appearance to become apparent to him…
“Now I sit here and think about her extra pounds,” he wrote. “She got cellulite because she no longer had time to go to the gym. She had to take care of the kids at home. She didn’t have time to dress nicely. The little time she did have, she gave to me and forgot to take care of herself.”
“Instead she changed diapers and breastfed until her breasts sagged, and she was proud of that. And after all the exertion from cooking, cleaning, she seemed to be happy with her family. Now I know that it’s like to have a real woman at home.”
Although this man doesn’t tell us anything about the woman he left his wife for, apart from the fact that she was younger and better looking, we can safely assume from this comment that she wasn’t a domestic goddess like his ex-wife was.
“I was foolish to trade true beauty for the superficial,” he admitted.
“I have lost this woman forever because I was unable to recognize and treasure the true worth of a dedicated housewife and mother,” he concluded.
The confession received a colossal amount of attention, and many praised the man for his honesty. However, the vast majority of people criticised this his actions mercilessly. This woman makes a particularly valid point.
A marriage counsellor who saw the video also had a point to add:
Regardless of whether or not you admire this anonymous man for his honesty, I think we can all agree that his story was an important one to tell, especially as half of all marriages end in divorce. Whilst people break up for a variety of reasons, looks should never be one of them.
