Everybody knows Keanu Reeves. He is a great actor who acted in many films, but the majority of us remember him for his role in Matrix. He is one of the high-paid actors in Hollywood, but also one of the poorest.
Keanu doesn’t care about money. It may sound like another PR stunt, but when you know his story, you’ll understand that it is true.
Keanu didn’t have a careless childhood. When he was three, his parents divorced. He stayed with mother and often moved from town to town, so very soon he lost connection with his father. The actor was not very good at school because he had dyslexia. Education was very difficult for him, so he left high school without a diploma.
When Keanu was 23, his best friend River Phoenix died of a drug overdose.
In 1998 he fell in love with Jennifer Syme. One year later, the woman became pregnant, but on the eight-month, they lost their baby. It was a real tragedy for both and they couldn’t continue their relationships. Two years later Jennifer Syme died in a car accident.
All these tragedies didn’t break Keanu’s will, and he continued acting in films. However, these events have significantly changed Keanu’s attitude to life and money.
After Matrix trilogy Keanu earned 114 million dollars, but he didn’t spend them on personal needs. Keanu gave 80 million dollars to the staff of the film because he believed they did a great job and the film wouldn’t be so successful without them.
You will be surprised, but Keanu gave the bigger part of his fee, received for The Devil’s Advocates film, so they could invite Al Pacino to act one of the main characters. Keanu believed that Al Pacino was the best candidate for this role and without him, they wouldn’t do a good film.
Keanu is also known as the only actor who tries to remember the names of all team members on the film set. He would always say hello and really mean it.
This actor doesn’t have a garage with a dozen of expensive cars like many other famous Hollywood actors. Even today he uses the subway, prefers blend in with a crowd and just be a nice guy.
If you don’t know Keanu Reeves and meet him in the street, you would never believe that this guy is a famous Hollywood star who earns millions of dollars.
