A mum-of-four claims she’s so fertile that she fell pregnant with three of her children while on threedifferent types of contraception – and is now sending her husband to have a vasectomy.
Becky Gower, 29, and husband Ed, 33, now have FOUR children under five after they claim despite being extra-careful with contraception, it failed them three times.
Becky fell pregnant with Dylan, now aged five, while she was taking the combined pill – but the couple were thrilled with the surprise news they were to become parents.
They even decided to give their baby son a little brother, and Archie, now four, came along a year later – and was conceived after just one month.
Deciding their family was now complete, Becky went back onto the contraceptive pill, taking the mini pill religiously at the same time every night, as directed.
But she fell pregnant for a THIRD time with baby Finn, now two, within a matter of weeks.
After giving up on the pill, she and Ed decided to use condoms as a contraceptive – but after one split, she was forced to rely on taking the morning-after pill.
She was stunned to discover she was pregnant AGAIN with Cora, now one.
Now, the family-of-six have decided enough is enough, and Ed is planning on having a vasectomy to stop their family growing any further.
Becky said: “I’ve tried everything now but nothing seems to work – my body must just reject the hormones.
“We’re going to look into Ed have a vasectomy soon –we love our children and love the fact that we didn’t plan our life, but I think that four babies is definitely enough.
“I’ve tried everything now but nothing seems to work – my body must just reject the hormones.
“We just use condoms at the minute because I don’t feel comfortable putting more hormones into my body after having the babies.
“But it does make us nervous every time we have sex, thinking that the condom could split and we might be on baby number five.”
Social media manager Becky first fell pregnant when her and her husband, Ed, had been together for just three months.
She added: “I was taking the combined pill when I became pregnant.
“Ed and I had only started seeing each other in August 2011, and I realised that I was pregnant at the beginning of December that year.
“I had just come back from travelling around the world and was working as a waitress at the time.
“I hadn’t come on my period, but because I was so stressed at work I put it down to stress and ignored it.
“It wasn’t until the lack of period kept playing on my mind that I realised that I should probably take a pregnancy test.
“So I went and got one on my lunch break at work and just did it in the staff toilets, and it came up positive.
“I was so shocked, but even more than that I felt guilty – because I’d been drinking for the last seven weeks and not looking after myself, when all the while I was pregnant.”
After having Dylan, Becky and Ed decided that they would have another child so carried on having sex without contraception.
Becky said: “After we had Archie we decided that that was enough.
“We had two perfect little boys, so I went on to the mini-pill, because I was still breast-feeding Archie and the ‘mini’ is the only pill you can use if you are.
“I’d only had two periods since Archie was born so I wasn’t surprised when my one this month didn’t come.
“I was stressed with this pregnancy, as my life had just started to settle down and get on track.”
She added: “At this point we desperately felt like this was our last baby.
“So because all of the other pills that I had used didn’t work, I realised that it would probably be better to just use condoms.
“So we did, and they were fine, for about seven months.
“One night we realised that the condom had split.
“Roughly 18 hours after we had sex I went and got the morning after pill, and I thought I was fine because it was within the advised 24-hour band.
“But that wasn’t the case – because then I fell pregnant with my first baby girl.”
Cora was born in June last year, and completed the family of six – for now at least.
Despite sticking to condoms, Becky still gets worried that her contraception will fail her and is looking to find a more permanent alternative.
Becky said: “Using condoms is fine at the moment, but then if it splits again that will become a problem.
“Being a mother-of-four, my body has been through a lot – I don’t think I need to put any more hormones into it really.
“I’m not willing to go back to other contraceptive methods, especially when they don’t work for me.
“Ideally we are going to look into doing something a bit more permanent and a bit more effective.”
