There are no limits to a dog’s loyalty to its owner and this certain dog can prove it.
A dog named Polo was a true hero. The loving pooch sacrificed his own life just to save baby Viviana, who was only 8 months old at the time. According to Newsner, Polo had been the family’s dog for quite a long time.
When Viviana was welcomed into the world, Polo watched over her as much as possible. Unfortunately, in August 2016, the family, residing in Baltimore, suffered a tragedy that would cost the life of the pup.
Erika Poremski – Viviana’s mother – went outside of their home to get something out of the car. At the time, Polo and Viviana were sleeping upstairs. To Poremski’s horror, she turned around and saw that her house was burning in raging flames.
The mother rushed towards her home to save her helpless baby daughter. She attempted to reach the second floor but to no avail due to extreme flames.
At that point, Poremski could already hear her daughter crying. Even the neighbors tried to help and rescue baby Viviana but no one succeeded.
Eventually, the firemen arrived and they were able to put out the fire and get Viviana out of their home. To their surprise, Viviana survived the incident because of Polo.
The loyal dog shielded her with his own body and sacrificed himself just to protect the poor and helpless baby. Because of Polo’s heroics, Viviana only suffered from burns on one side or 19 percent of her body. Sadly, after the fire, Polo passed away.
However, his act of heroism will never be forgotten by everyone, most especially by Viviana’s family. They are forever grateful for their beloved dog’s loyalty. A year following the incident, Poremski’s father created a GoFundMe page to assist the family in getting back on track.
