When Mom Chrissy Marie, walked out of her home Friday night, she was surprised to find two unexpected things: first, one of her wind chimes was gone, second, there was a small handwritten note in its place. Inside the note was a $5 bill and a message that brought Chrissy to tears.
The note was from a little boy named Jake, and it explained what happened to Chrissy’s wind chime. Jake’s sister had stolen the chime, but not out of greed or meanness, she took it simply because they reminded her of her late mother. The note said:
I am sorry that we stole your wind chime. Our mom died and liked butterflied so my sister took it to put by our window. I am sorry. This is the only money I have. Please do not be mad at us.
Jake
As a mother of five, Chrissy’s heart went out to Jake. In fact, she had lost her mother at a young age as well, so she immediately understood Jake’s pain.
Rather than being mad, Chrissy posted a Facebook message looking for Jake, hoping to return the money. “Well Jake, I’m not sure who you are, but you can get your money back, sweetie,” she writes.
She goes on to say that she has 3 wind chimes so it’s no big deal that he took one. In fact, she tells Jake he can come over and take another wind chime so that he and his sister each have their own!
Chrissy says she doesn’t condone stealing, but the fact that Jake felt bad about his sister’s action and tried to make it right spoke volumes to her.
