Mothers have to be very inventive for a lot of reasons. We always have to come up with new, creative ways of helping our kids get what they need to feel better. It could be something as simple as scrunching your face to get a smile out of them or as complicated as getting them to sleep or getting picky eaters to eat what’s good for them.

Giving babies medicine has to be one thing that truly brings out the creativity in every mother. You know they need to take it to get better but the taste is less than savoury. You probably tried everything but all your attempts ended up with your little one spitting up the medicine. Of course, at this point, any useful trick will be very much appreciated. And that’s why mums everywhere are falling in love with this woman’s tip.

A mum named Helena Lee shared a hack for how she gets her son to take medicine. According to her Facebook post, she was first getting really frustrated when little Alfie just refused to take the Calpol she was trying to give him.

Then she remembered seeing an interesting trick somewhere which she then decided to adopt. Instead of trying to get the syringe straight into her baby’s mouth, she simply placed it through his feeding bottle nipple and put that in his mouth instead.

The boy probably thought he was being fed some milk and according to Helena, he happily took the medicine without hassle.

Evidently, this may only work for babies who are already used to being fed through the bottle. However, a simple trick that almost always works for mothers is when you put the syringe straight at the back of the baby’s cheek instead of at the tip of the mouth. This way, the medicine slides to the throat easily and the child reflexively swallows it.

We believe that, armed with these two tips, getting your babies to take that medicine will be a breeze and your little one will be feeling better in no time.
