The iconic actor, who played one of the fan-favorite characters on the hit show NCIS, shared a hopeful message with his fans.
Michael Weatherly revealed in an exclusive statement that he is willing to return to the navy-based crime drama series, NCIS, in the future.
People’s Choice confirmed that there have been no preparations for writing a re-entry of his character, Anthony DiNozzo, into the show, but the actor himself has expressed his openness to rejoin the cast.
Speaking with Digital Spy, the star clearly stated that it was absolutely possible that the retired characters like DiNozzo, and many others, could «pop up» again in the show. He added, «It is something I’m very keen to explore when the time is right.»
People’s Choice highlighted that the statement from Weatherly came as a great news for the loyal fans of the show, who have been disappointed by a number of exits of the well-known characters from their favorite show.
The source further wrote that despite having a new brilliant performer in Maria Bello, among many other new faces, the loyal fans still miss many of the older faces.
Weatherly, definitely, is one of them. People’s Choice also suggested that Weatherly’s admittance about a possible return was more than just a passing remark from the actor as he has repeatedly opened up about it.

Earlier, in 2016, right before the airing of his last episode, Weatherly had clearly stated that the «long answer» to the question about a possible return in the future was «yes.»
People’s Choice further stressed that the return of Weatherly’s character, DiNozzo, was much needed to maintain the popularity of the show.
The online magazine stated that without the witty remarks of DiNozzo and all the movie quotes along with impressions, which are the hallmark of the character, NCIS isn’t as much fun.
The long-running navy-based crime drama series is currently in its 15th season, which has been airing on the television network, CBS, since September 26, 2017.
