No One Wanted The ‘Saddest Dog In The World,’ Then A Family Steps In To Change Her

A 3-year-old Labrador named Lana had a rough go of it. Known as the “Saddest Dog In The World,” she was too depressed to move or go on walks after being returned to the kennel more than once.

Lana was rescued by Rescue Dogs Match in Toronto, Canada, when she was a puppy. She was first adopted in 2015, then brought back to the shelter only months later.

“She is sweet and silly: that is hardwired into her character,” the shelter wrote of Lana on Facebook. “She is timid, wary of strangers only at first. When she is not around the people she trusts, she has the tendency to shut down or become very hesitant.”

The anxious dog was adopted again in 2016 but returned yet again, a few months later. Lana only had until May 20 to find a foster parent or forever home, otherwise she would be moved to another boarding facility where she could be put to sleep.

“Drum roll, please,” the shelter announced to apprehensive Facebook followers, “Lana has a new forever home.”

The shelter made sure that Lana went with a mature couple — someone with the “time, patience, determination and commitment to help her become more confident.”

The shelter believes they have found Lana’s real forever home this time. As they say: third time’s a charm!
