Kim Castillo just wanted to have dinner with her son, Milo. They were regular customers of the Prime Rib restaurant in Houston, Texas. Since Milo is a child with special needs, the family preferred to dine in the places they knew everyone.
However, at some point, one family, who was dining in the restaurant next to them, asked the waiter to give them another table — away from Kim and her son. The father of the family then even said that children like Milo shouldn’t dine in public places!
Kim was simply shocked by the boorish behavior of this family, but later one of the waiters did this.
When Michael Garcia heard what these ill-bred customers were saying, he refused to serve them and led them to the exit.
“How can you say that?” Michael exclaimed as he left the restaurant, “How could you say such a thing about this beautiful 5-year-old angel?”
When the waiter returned, the visitors greeted him with applause, and many even came to thank Milo for his heroism.
“I was impressed that somebody would step out of their own comfort level and put their job on the line as well as to stand up for somebody else,” Kim said. “I know Michael did it from his heart, and from reacting to the situation. I don’t think he stopped and thought about what he was doing.”
Kim also hopes that their story will encourage others to come to the rescue of those who cannot stand up for themselves.
