Actress Doris Day is celebrating a milestone birthday this year! However, contrary to what she believed, she will not be turning 93 years old.
The Associated Press managed to unearth her birth certificate from the Ohio’s Office of Vital Statistics. The person named Doris Mary Kappelhoff (Doris Day’s real name) was born on April 3, 1922.
This contradicts what Doris has been saying for years, which is that she was born in 1924! As a result, she has turned 95 and is two years older than she believed. What a birthday surprise!
In a statement, she said, “I’ve always said that age is just a number and I have never paid much attention to birthdays, but it’s great to finally know how old I really am!”
Over the years, there was a lot of speculation about how old the actress really was, with many media outlets reporting her age to be 93 or 95 in the past few years. Now, we finally have confirmation as to Doris Day’s real age.
There is also a lot of speculation as to how this happened: her age or birthday may have been miswritten on an audition form, and the mistake stuck throughout all these years.
Doris’ spirits don’t appear to be dampened by the news that she’s older than she originally thought. Now, she’s closer in age to good friends Betty White and Carl Reiner, which is something she’s very excited about!
