Hundreds of people in this Indian village could not hold back their joy and relief when a river began to flow again after 20 years.
The locals in Anantapur district of Andhra Pradesh were so happy that they cried and jumped up and down in excitement. The river had experienced a drought for so long.
The video was first posted online by an Indian man named Bmd Fayaz. He said in his post, “In Drought Area in Anantapuram district KALAVAPALLI RIVER begin its flow after 20 Years to wipe out drought.”
As soon as the news began to spread, crowds quickly raced to the scene, whooping and shouting as they just could not believe their eyes.
The footage recording the villagers’ reaction was captured from a bridge above the water. It has since garnered nearly 3 million views on Youtube.
Most commenters alleged that the river must have gotten stagnant due to the practice of villagers throwing faeces and other dangerous pollutants into the water.
It is believed that the river flowing will put an end to the drought that those in the Anantapur area had been experiencing for many years. Hopefully, better practices will help things stay the same.
