In the 12th season of NBC’s America’s Got Talent, the audience and judges both were a bit confused when a grown man dressed as a clown shuffled out from behind the curtain. Everyone had curious looks on their faces when Puddles Pity Party first walked on stage. He set his briefcase on a stool, then he set his lantern down on the ground. Next, he turned sorrowfully to the judges and audience.
When the panel of judges that includes Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Mel B and Howie Mandel asked Puddles a few questions, his mime act prevented him from responding with words, so he used hand gestures instead. Eventually, Puddles gave the thumbs up and a haunting version of Sia’s «Chandelier» began to play. That’s when Puddles busted out his deep baritone voice with an operatic version of this hit song.
Even the audience is shocked when Puddles begins belting out the song, as are the judges. The tear drops drawn dribbling down his face add to his monotone costume and startling performance. Not far into the song, the audience jumps to its feet, applauding wildly when they realize just how powerful and impressive of a voice Puddles really has. See for yourself how oddly enigmatic Puddles is in his appearance on America’s Got Talent.
