Since when does a teacher decide what’s good for your child or not? I don’t think that’s healthy, in fact, I don’t think that’s right. However, a school in Colorado drove a mother up a wall because of what they did to her daughter.
When a mother’s 4-year-old daughter came home with uneaten Oreos, she knew something was wrong. Her daughter then handed her a note from her teachers telling the mother she needed to pack a healthier lunch.
The mother, Leeza Pearson, was clearly frustrated by the school’s attempt to control what she does with her family. “We noticed last minute that we ran out of fruit or we would have put that in there instead,” Pearson told Today.com.
The letter read:
School Lunches
Dear Parents,
It is very important that all students have a nutritious lunch. This is a public school setting and all children are required to have a fruit, a vegetable, and a healthy snack from home, along with milk. If they have potatoes, the child will also need bread to go along with it. Lunchables, chips, fruit snacks, and peanut butter are not considered to be a healthy snack. This is a very important part of our program and we need everyone’s participation.
Social media exploded with the letter. People were saying it was “ridiculous” and the irony is that Pearson was asked to send her child in with candy just the other day for a party. She even got feedback from friends she hasn’t heard from in years.
Pearson found the letter odd for the single fact that school was over in three weeks. She normally sends her daughter to school with a healthy meal. “We’re not the parents that send junk food every day. She has a full, healthy lunch,” Pearson said. “And that was Friday! Why not give her a special treat?”
Although Pearson has tried to get in touch with the school, she hasn’t been able to make contact with the director. When Today reached out to the school, the man refused to give his name and any comments.
Pearson is sticking to her beliefs and refuses to let the school have their way, but it may be a bit of a battle for her. What do you think? Do you think the school was right? let us know below and please Liked Video this article to help her out!
