Yoli Mayor has been singing ever since she was 2 years old, and now she’s 21. But her dated appearance and song choice left Simon disappointed.
Just a few moments into her version of “I Put A Spell On You,” Simon told the producers to stop the music. The judges felt her song choice was much too dated for such a young performer, but Yoli never expected to have to completely start over with a different song!
As if that wasn’t daunting enough, Tyra Banks rushed onto the stage to make a few simple yet effective tweaks to Yoli’s look. Tyra fluffed her hair, removed her earrings, and took off her heels.
“Thank you. I feel more comfortable now,” Yoli said.
This time around, Yoli opted to sing her amazing rendition of Ed Sheeran’s “Make It Rain,” a brand-new soulful song from a singer of her generation.
