My Heart Will Go On” is one of those songs only the most ambitious singers would dare to perform in front of a crowd of hundreds. With all the high notes, I know I could never attempt to sing it, even in my own car!
But it was the song of choice for 9-year-old Celine, who’s named after the famed singer of the hit song. She took the America’s Got Talent stage in hopes of impressing the judges with her voice — but at her age, would she be able to carry the tune?
The young contestant stepped out in front of the crowd and panel of judges. Mel B seemed very interested in the little girl’s background, but Simon rolled his eyes at every mention of Céline Dion’s name — it seemed pretty obvious that the girl’s love for the singer influenced what she chose to sing for them.
But by the first note in the video below, Simon’s expression totally changes: He’s stunned by Celine’s voice, and he certainly was not expecting her to sound like that. She can almost pass for the singer herself!
Celine hits every note perfectly, and in no time, the crowd is on its feet and cheering. Even her own mother has tears in her eyes listening to her daughter sing so beautifully.
