How to make the iodine test:

It is better (but not obligatory) to make the test right after the morning shower.
The spot may be of any size. The only condition — it shouldn’t go beyond your wrist.
You may buy a tincture of iodine in any drugstore.
Write down the time when you started the test.
Follow the change of the spot’s color during the next 24 hours.

How to understand the results of test:

In general, the faster the spot disappears, the more your organism is in need of iodine.

If the spot started to brighten but didn’t disappear completely within 24 hours — everything is fine.
The spot almost or completely disappeared within 18–24 hours — there is a small deficit, but it is not critical.
The spot almost or completely disappeared within 12–18 hours – there is a deficit, and you need to do something with this.
The spot almost or completely disappeared within 6–12 hours – you have serious problems with iodine deficit, call the doctor immediately.
The spot almost or completely disappeared within less than 6 hours — your problems with iodine deficit are really awful, you need to see the doctor as soon as possible.
If your test turned to be with negative result

This test can be passed once per two weeks. In this way you can easily control the need of your organism in iodine.

What should you do in case of deficit? Call the doctor. If the deficit is not too significant, change your common salt into iodized one. Also you may simple change a little your diet.

Eat more baked potatoes, cranberries, prunes, codfish, shrimps and canned tune. You may also choose fish sticks, dry algae, turkey, milk, boiled eggs, yogurts, cheddar cheese, bananas and strawberries.
