Teen Is Ripped From Home When Parents Die. 20 Years Later, Boss Asks If She Remembers ‘Ralph’

bez-imeni-1

20 years ago, Sally Zheng was placed into foster care at 14 years old. It was a difficult and stress-ridden time, yet there seemed to be one shining light in the darkness.

Ralph Torres, the kindhearted officer who helped Sally on the first day she was placed into foster care, became the only positive influence for the troubled teen.

As the years passed, Sally and Ralph lost touch. Even after she graduated high school and college, Sally longed to see her savior once again.

Sally even went on to enlist in the NYPD. She was inspired to follow in Ralph’s footsteps and make a difference for someone else in need.

Then one day, Sally sent out a letter in the hopes it would re-connect her and Ralph after so many years.

On May 25, 2017, Sally arrived for morning roll call before going out on patrol, just like she does every day. But before the officers were dismissed, they were asked to stand by for a special announcement from NYPD Commissioner James P. O’Neill.

Little did Sally know a special guest was waiting outside the door.
