When 89-year-old Virginia Booth passed away on February 13, 2013, she left behind a wonderful and loving family.
Her great-granddaughter realized that everyone who had known Virginia had been positively impacted by her, so she realized her death needed to mean something more.
Instead of wallowing in grief, 18-year-old Samantha Manns set out to complete 89 acts of kindness — one for each year of her great-grandmother’s life.
Samantha explained that even though she couldn’t find joy immediately after her great-grandmother’s death, she could do things that would make other people happy.
Once Samantha had her heart set on completing these acts of kindness, she set up a Facebook page — and subsequently a scholarship fund — to remember and honor the life of her great-grandma.
Her very first acts of kindness? Paying for someone else’s meal at a McDonald’s drive-thru.
It felt like such a simple, small thing to do, but when Samantha looked into the car behind her and saw the driver looking at the receipt and crying, she knew that these small acts could make a big difference.
After that, Samantha went on to do a variety of other kind things, including paying for more McDonald’s meals, donating to the humane society, giving blood, and baking a surprise birthday cake for a friend.
Samantha is now inspiring others to follow her lead — if you think small acts of kindness can be a big deal, please Liked Video this article with your friends!
