This Woman Drugged Children And Put Them In Coffins. Decades Later She Was Nominated For The Nobel Peace Prize

The Holocaust was one of the most violent, cruel and devastating periods of human history. However, amid the destruction, hate and pain, in several parts angels made of flesh and blood appeared to guide the defenseless and give strength to the weak, all victims of Nazi insanity.

1

One of those angels was a Polish nurse called Irena Sendler, who did and undid absolutely everything she could to save more than 2,500 Jewish children, who otherwise would have been added to the countless innocent victims of the Holocaust.

But, to better understand her motivation, it’s necessary to know a little about this great woman’s history. Irena was born on February 15, 1910 in Warsaw, Poland. Her father, a known doctor called Stanislaw Krzyżanowski, died of typhus when she was just 7 years old, infected by patients that his colleagues had rejected because of their contagious condition. That left a notable impression on his daughter, showing her that she should do everything possible to help those in need.

When the Jews in Warsaw were forced into ghettos, Irena joined ŻEGOTA (Polish Council To Aid Jews). And from the beginning she worked together with other collaborators to “smuggle” children out of the ghetto and put them with loving families or orphanages, far from the ghetto, Nazis and certain death.

Irena used any way she could come up with to get the kids out. She hid them in ambulances already occupied by gravely ill patients, in carts, in trash bags, and even in coffins (she sometimes drugged the kids to make it look like they were dead, or to put them to sleep so they weren’t given away by fear or desperation).

In total, more than 2,500 kids were saved thanks to Irena, and that’s why, as well as multiple awards and recognitions, in 2007 she was nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Unfortunately, “The Angel of Warsaw”, died one year later, at the age of 98. But it’s best if you find out about her story in more detail in the following video:

Drogó y metió a niños vivos en ataúdes y la premiaron

Lo que esta mujer hizo te dejará con la boca abierta, imposible que no llores por lo que pasó. #Comparte
