The identical twins Abigail and Isobel are 5 years old now. Despite the fact that both of them were diagnosed with Down’s syndrome, the parents are now proud of their daughters. The chance of giving birth to such children is approximately one in a million!

The girl’s parents Jodi and Matt Parry from Lancashire admit that they were despaired to hear about the special girls’ condition from the doctors. However, the parents are so happy with their girls now that they say they would never change them if they were offered such chance, as the girls have enriched their life with only positive moments.

Matt says that the girl’s peculiarity is not an obstacle in their communication: “I don’t care how many chromosomes they’ve got. I don’t care about the biology and the science behind the Down’s syndrome. It doesn’t matter.”

Abigail and Isobel also have an 8-year-old brother Finn, who always supports the girls. According to Matt and Jodi, the only difference between their children is that they acquire new skills at a different speed.

Although the girls suffer from several health issues (Isobel has a heart defect, and Abigail uses a hearing aid; both struggle with thyroid problems) and their speech is not fluent, the girls now join a mainstream school and do their best in the studies.

The twin sisters are glad to be surrounded by their loving family. Jody says: “When the doctor took us to one side to give us the results, he said he was sorry that Abigail and Isobel had Down’s syndrome. To this day I’ll never know what he was sorry for.”
