He successfully saved 669 mostly Jewish children from Czechoslovakia during the Holocaust. This brave person risked his life to organize their transfer to Britain. But nobody knew about this fact. Sir Nickolas Winton like a real hero kept it secret. Many years later his wife found a notebook, which contained the names of the rescued children.
Elizabeth Maxwell, a Holocaust researcher, helped to work with this document. She decided to send letters to the then-children from this list. They received more than 200 responses. But it was not the end of this incredible story.
Sir Nickolas Winton was invited to the TV program, entitled “That’s life” on BBC. His notebook was demonstrated during the show; then the host asked whether any in this hall owed their life to Sir Nickolas Winton. Just look what happened next. His reaction is so touching.
