Hollywood star Mark Ruffalo survived a brain tumor in 2001. What’s, perhaps, even more astonishing is that the tumor somehow presented itself in his dream.
Mark Ruffalo
It is by far the easiest to recognize Ruffalo as the Incredible Hulk from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He played the big green thing in several Marvel movies, such as The Avengers and Thor: Ragnarok. However, this Academy Award nominee also has a plethora of renowned roles in dramas and comedies. His roles in Foxcatcher and Spotlight have received both critical and commercial acclaim.
Discovering the tumor
It was a bit bizarre, though life-saving, how the actor had discovered he had a tumor. After a crazy dream in which he dreamt about having a tumor in his head, he became restless. With nothing but a theory from a simple dream,
Ruffalo went to see a doctor.
Somehow, the doctor agreed to run a couple of tests, and he found an acoustic neuroma the size of a walnut. As Ruffalo’s wife was pregnant with their first son, he bravely decided not to tell her anything. The actor was quickly scheduled for a surgery.
Recovery
The surgery did remove the entirety of the tumor but left Mark to battle with the aftermath. He had to put a promising Hollywood career on hold because he had a partial facial paralysis for almost a year.
Only after months of grueling struggle and not giving up did his face started to show signs of getting better. He recuperated just in time to get his career back on track and to soar to the top of Hollywood actors.
This story about Mark Ruffalo should serve as an inspiration to others. No matter how bleak the situation looks, you simply cannot give up.
