Auctions are planned sales where whoever offers the most amount of money takes the product being auctioned. Currently, antique objects are offered at auction; one of them was this chair.
The highest bidders for this old chair were 50-year-old Angela Milner-Brown and her 47-year-old husband, Angus. This Scottish couple paid just 6 dollars for this piece of furniture, but they didn’t realize the surprise that was waiting for them.
The couple acquired the chair a decade ago and decided to keep it in their attic. They intended to re-upholster it but couldn’t afford it at the time. Almost six years later, Angus went up to the attic and saw the chair. It was finally time to upholster it so he got to work. He began removing the original fabric and when he got to the final part, he found a big surprise!
Some jewelry was hidden in the chair. Angus decided to keep the secret for a while and give the jewels to his wife little by little. For their anniversary, Angus gave Angela the diamond ring he had found in the chair. Next Valentine’s Day he gave her a pair of diamond earrings. And at Christmas, he gave her a brooch, also with diamonds.
“Over time we were able to upholster the chair and it looked beautiful. I never thought it was possible to hide something inside. The previous owners must have hidden them inside the chair. I couldn’t believe it,” said Angela.
The total value of the jewelry found in the chair was $6,604. Angus wisely chose to give the jewelry to his wife. What would you have done if you saw a chair full of diamonds?
