Andrea Sierra Salazar, an 18-year-old from Texas, proved to everyone that hair loss caused by chemo is nothing to be ashamed of, and you can be beautiful with hair on your head or without!

In February 2016, Andrea was diagnosed with stage 2 lymphoma. She underwent chemotherapy and lost her hair. At first, Andrea felt self-conscious about her new look, but then she contacted photographer Gerardo Garmendia and did a photo shoot to improve her self-esteem and encourage other cancer patients to think differently about their appearance.
Gerardo Garmendia wrote on his website:
Andrea loves modeling and wanted to have a shoot showing that no matter what you go through in life, beauty lies within. She has been battling cancer for a while, and she is a great example of determination.
About a year later, Gerardo did another photo shoot with Andrea, this time of her prom! He commented:
I had the honor to take Andreas Sierra’s prom photos this Summer. She is a great person and an amazing young woman. I admire her determination and courage. Now, she is 18th years old and cancer free.
