Drones are revolutionizing the photo and video industry with their ability to capture nature from otherwise unattainable vantage points. This drone video, shot by Hawaii resident John Tarson, is a particular gem as it captures the magnificence of Hawaii’s most active volcano, Kilauea, sending rivulets of lava down its vast mountainside.
Over the span of three days in December of 2017, lava gushed down the volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii.
The United States Geological Survey Hawaiian Volcano Observatory assured residents in the area that the volcanic flow wasn’t a threat, but advised visitors to observe from safe, closed-off areas.
