Miley Cyrus and Elton John dazzle in breathtaking Grammy performance

Forty-five years may separate Miley Cyrus and Elton John, but on Jan. 28 at “The 60th Annual Grammy Awards,” those years seemed to disappear when the two performed together.

Elton is 70.

Miley is 25.

But for a moment, the only thing that mattered was how perfect these two music superstars sounded singing together. With Elton dazzling in his embellished suit and Miley looking downright breathtaking in a voluminous fuchsia gown, these two made the perfect performance look downright effortless as they sang Elton’s hit 1972 “Tiny Dancer.”

And they looked like they were having a darned good time doing it.

Even the audience seemed to eat the performance up, seemingly loving these two showing off their individual vocal chops for the unforgettable performance.

The dynamic collaboration between Miley and Elton comes just a couple of days before the taping of the “Elton John: I’m Still Standing – A Grammy Salute” tribute concert, and a few days after his announcement that he would be retiring from music after he goes on a three-year tour just once more.

In an interview with E! before the show, Elton couldn’t help but gush over the chance to collaborate with Miley during this particular performance. “I’ve always loved her,” said Elton, who was also scheduled to receive the Recording Academy President’s Merit Award alongside his longtime writing partner, Bernie Taupin, at the Grammys. “Those are my kind of women. I like my women to be strong, and I like my women to be feisty, and she can sing! So it’s great to finally be able to work with her.”

For Miley, the chance to collaborate with Elton was just another surreal moment in a weekend full of surreal moments. In fact, as previously reported, Miley spent the night of Jan. 26 performing a Fleetwood Mac cover before the band itself.

“Still thinkin about last night … feels like a dream,” Miley posted on her Instagram Jan. 27. “I had the opportunity to sing Landslide (top 3 favorite song of all time) in front of Stevie Nicks (I am so thankful for these lyrics) and Fleetwood Mac! Most inspiring band for me growin’ up … (right up there with Joan [Jett] & The Blackhearts). These lyrics always rang so true to me in my world .. I was ‘afraid of changin’ cause I built my life around you.’ That always meant to me personally, everything I had built in MY life (especially my career) was based on who I was before … everyone loved ‘the old me’ but there’s a new ‘me’ (us) every day … We’re always shedding our skin and blossoming into older and, hopefully, better, more evolved selves.”
